ITIN Car Loans in Las Vegas

No Social Security number? You can still buy a car in Las Vegas, and you may still be able to finance one. Some of the lenders we work with accept an ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) in place of a Social Security number, and our team will walk you through the whole process in English or Spanish.

Charlie Cheap Car has sold used cars in Las Vegas for 25 years. We are family owned and veteran owned, open seven days a week, and we work with several lenders, including ones for ITIN holders, first-time buyers and people who don't get pay stubs. Financing is subject to lender approval.

What is an ITIN?

An ITIN is a nine-digit tax number the IRS issues to people who need to file a U.S. tax return but can't get a Social Security number. It always starts with a 9 and looks like a Social Security number (9XX-XX-XXXX). The IRS mails it to you on a notice called a CP565. If you have been filing taxes with your ITIN, you already have one of the most useful papers for a car loan: a record of your income.

Can I finance a car with an ITIN?

Often, yes. Not every bank accepts an ITIN, which is why the dealer you choose matters. We send your application only to the lenders that do. What they look at most:

  • Income you can show, from pay stubs, bank deposits or tax returns.
  • Stability: how long you have lived at your address and worked at your job.
  • Your down payment. A bigger one usually means more lenders will say yes.
  • Your credit history, if you have one under your ITIN. No history is common, and it is not a dead end.

What to bring

  • Your ITIN: the IRS letter (CP565) or a tax return that shows it.
  • Photo ID. Lenders differ on which IDs they accept, such as a passport, a consular ID, or a Nevada driver's license or Driver Authorization Card. Call us before you come and we will tell you what works in your case.
  • Proof of income: recent pay stubs, or bank statements and tax returns if you are self-employed.
  • Proof of address: a utility bill or lease in your name.
  • Your down payment.
  • Proof of insurance, or we can help you sort it out. Lenders require full coverage (comprehensive and collision) on a financed car.

Driving legally in Nevada

To drive the car home you need a valid license. Nevada issues a Driver Authorization Card to residents who can't show proof of legal presence in the U.S.: it lets you drive legally in Nevada, but it is not an ID for federal purposes. Requirements change, so check the Nevada DMV before your appointment.

Build your credit with your ITIN

The credit bureaus can keep a credit file under an ITIN. When your lender reports your payments, paying on time every month builds a credit history in your name, and that history means more choices, and often better ones, the next time you buy a car.

Common questions

Do I need a Social Security number to buy a car?

Not to buy one. To finance one, some lenders accept an ITIN instead. If you buy the car outright, you don't need a loan at all.

Can I do everything in Spanish?

Yes. Se habla español. Call (702) 471-1549 and we will fill out the application with you over the phone or at the office. Read this page in Spanish.

Can I finance with no credit history?

Often, yes. Plenty of our buyers have no credit history at all. See our first-time buyer guide and bad credit car loans.

Can I trade in the car I have now?

Yes, even one you still owe money on. See Trade Your Car.
